SO, WHAT DO WE PROPOSE?

INTRODUCING:
THE AMERICA I WANT IS...

The America I want is a grassroots, social media platform, allowing Americans from across the country to speak and listen to what others have to say. The goal is to promote dialogue and propose solutions to our collective challenges.

Our model is the native, North American Talking Circles, which promoted dialogue by allowing each member of the tribe to speak. It was the continent’s first example of participatory democracy, and a way for leaders to tap into the collective understanding of the tribe.

Our other model is the New England Town Meeting, where citizens gather to decide issues of local governance, resolve differences, and hear each other out.

To manage our great American Talking Circle, we are starting out small. We are focusing on our communities, our states and regions and, finally, our nation. We ask Americans what their states contribute to the nation, and what binds us together as a people. We are exploring what we can agree on, and where we must agree to disagree.
