"THE AMERICA I WANT REGAINS ITS SPIRIT OF OPTIMISM"
YOUR VOICE COUNTS!
In our American Experiences talking circle, we return to those of you who have sent us submissions, and ask that you expand on your hopes for the country.
Typically, other people don’t change our minds. We change our own. The problem is that our life’s experiences are inevitably limited, and we fill the void of what we haven’t directly experienced with assumptions.
Those assumptions become part of who we are, and how we understand the world. And we often hold on to them stubbornly.
The American Experiences talking circle is an exercise in empathy. We get to feel what it’s like to step in the shoes of other Americans. After all, it is empathy that can open our hearts to other peoples’ situations, helping us examine the validity of our assumptions.
